Day 3: Jiufen

We planned a visit to Jiufen and booked a room with a 民宿 for a night's stay. Darl and i had always like visiting places out of the city area whenever we travel coz that's when we can get to see some nice scenaries and enjoy a break from the bustling of the city. We stayed at a place called 温莎保 which was recommended by YL who stayed there twice before. Its really a very nice place with rooms that faces the sea view of Jiufen.
Room reservations can be made via emails and e owner was super trusting and nice to allow us to make payment upon reaching the place without any need for deposits. U can check out their wide variety of rooms at www.windsor.idv.tw we stayed in 1 of the smaller rooms 溫莎堡涵館 1. But it'll be quite fun to stay in their bigger rooms with friends the next time we go over there again.
we had to take a railway train to a station before changing a bus to reach Jiufen. Taiwan's mrt and railway stations are pretty similar in nature to that of Japan.
A look at the view of Jiufen once we reached there.

Our cosy room...The best part is this enclosed balcony platform that has a view of the mountain and the sea. Total relaxation to just sit there with a cup of coffee admiring the view *loves* and don't u think this pic that i took for darl looked like something out of a fashion magazine...hurhurhur...Outside our 民宿. Walking down the streets of Jiufen Old Street. Its full of foodies and souvenirs shops. Yes darl, 爱拼才会赢!!! 加油!!!Super huge mushroom stalks grilled to a crisp! Street style escargos...we weren't adventurous enuff to try it...hee...And their 黑猪香肠! Gosh! Its e best 香肠 that we have ever eaten! We tried one and bought another to eat again later. Yums! And their famous fishballs soup couple with what else but darl's fav 鲁肉饭! I told u we can eat this every single day of our trip le. But its thumbs up and very yummy!Yu Yuan for desserts!!! Loves loves this! The yu yuan are all so chewy and nice. Wish spore had this done so finely here.

And this is the very yummilicous Mochi that YL recommended before our trip. Its filled with different ice-cream fillings insides which darl insist on buying 1 whole box for our own consumption there upon trying their samples at the shop earlier. I had serious doubts that we can finish e whole box but it really doesn't seem to be a concern for him so we brought them back to our room for savouring.

After eating so much so much, darl and i decided to go trek up the 基隆山 there coz the view is supposed to be very spectacular and darl is all anxious to take a lot of awe inspiring pics using the DSLR which he had borrowed from his cousin for our trip.

E mountain in e background is what we were supposed to trek up to. But alas...When we reached the treking trail at the mountain foot, it seems that the trail was closed and we cant proceed further. A chat with our hostel owner revealed that the trail had become too dangerous and they were doing some repairs for it. We walked out onto Jiufen at night for dinner and the streets were a quiet and peaceful lot. This is where all the restuarants are located...Our mushroom pot dinner...Breakfast the next morning was at this little cafe just on top of our room. It has an amazing view of Jiufen at their outdoor balcony where guests can sit outside enjoying coffee and snacks. The view from the cafe balcony...And when we were about to leave Jiufen, we wandered into the adjacent room and took a peek insides as the auntie was clearing the room. Apparently its a joint room for a group of 4 that has a gathering area with a view like this. Looks cool doesn't it...We played ard with darl's cam at the railway station trying to capture shots like that of a postcard haha...very fun to play with a SLR. And most of the pics were that of me since darl just like taking the shots while i dun mind being e model...haha...ya i noe i'm a bit of a narcissistic but its fun trying to take different kinds of shots! Ah...can u sense that i'm a little itching to get a SLR for the fun of it now already...sigh...
